To history buffs Napoleon was a crazy general but for me Napoleon is an awkward teenager in the movie Napoleon Dynamite. I will admit that the first time I watched this film I hated it. I found Napoleon obnoxious and the lack of a plot made the movie pointless to me. But at least twice a year I stumble upon it on t.v. and decide to watch it. As I watch it more and more I find myself coming to grips with the subtle and awkward humor that is Napoleon. Some of my favourite lines are “Knock it off, Napoleon! Just make yourself a dang quesa-dilluh!” and “A fringing twelve gauge, what do you think “. These two quotes provide a little insight into the humor of the movie without ruining it. The link bellow has some other great parts of the movie so check that out as well.
Some fun facts that I found interesting about this production is that Napoleon’s favourite animal the Liger is in fact a real animal. The liger is the product of a male Lion and a female Tiger but is not a magical. As well this movie only took 22 days to shoot and it was produced on a normal mac by the director, which is good since the budget for the movie was only 400 00$. However this small budget is not evident. Make

Everyone hates this movie until they actually give it a chance. I always loved it and my dad couldn't stand it until one day he actually sat down and watched the whole thing with me. That's actually so cool that it was made on a mac computer.
ReplyDelete22 days to shoot this movie!? I've heard of Disney taking about that long but wow I never realized. Cool, learn something new everyday right ? :)
ReplyDeleteI also did not enjoy the movie the first time watching it. I stopped watching it and lost interest mid way through the movie. Then one day, I came across it again and I watched it. I absolutely LOVE this movie now, even with the budget being so low.
ReplyDeleteI thought I was the only one who didn't really get this movie because of the lack of plot, however I agree that there is some subtle humor in there. It's not my favourite movie, but I didn't hate it. I just don't understand the obsession that some people have.
